"Nearing the End of the Year"

Here it is nearing the end of the school year. This is the time most of us start to panic because we realize we still have 35 lessons left in a math book or one of our struggling readers is, well, still struggling. The kids are wondering when will summer break start and moms are wondering if we can complete this year before starting next year....or perhaps just roll it altogether! Have no fear though! We are homeschooling moms, we have a different mindset. Our goal is not suppose to be to complete a year of academics but, to nurture and encourage what our children have to offer. Take out last year's portfolios and really take a look at how far each of your children have come. Take time to sit down and look at when exactly you would like to stop for a few weeks and how far you can REALISTICALLY get in that time period. Talk to your children about taking off that time and what they need to do to help the family meet that goal. With evenings lasting longer outside and bedtime getting moved up later and later it is harder to get those morning willies out of everyone's system and moving with school. Try starting your morning outside....go for a bike ride, walk or do some school in the shade of a tree. This is a great time to do some science nature journaling and reading out loud. When you do decide to take off some time, it is wonderful to truly take off that time. Not just the children, but mom also. It can do wonders for the start of the new year, if you are revived!

God has entrusted us, and given us a wonderful opportunity to raise His children and teach them about Him. Please take the time to embrace the blessings and the little things life has to offer.

Thank you for all the amazing help and encouragement this year in our homeschooling endeavor! You all have made this year a wonderful time for our families.

Blessings to all!
