"Reflections ..."

Today is Thursday, field trip day for so many years. I have seen several emails from group members about the great trip to the fire station today. We didn’t go, we have been many times before, on Thursdays. Now it is past time for us to go
there. My children have become to grown up and they aren’t interested in seeing fire trucks anymore. So sad. Where did all those years go? All those wonderful Thursdays, going on all those trips. We did them all; rarely ever did we miss a Lighthouse field trip in eight years. This year has been different. My boys need more time at home to complete the more time consuming academics that go with the middle school years. I miss those early years on days like today. To all you members with young ones, take advantage of all the opportunities to go on field trips with your kids. It all changes before you want it to and then you realize how much you looked forward to Thursday.

I have enjoyed some of these changes, especially the changing relationships I am developing with my children and many of their friends through the Plus activities. It is refreshing to be around young adults who can converse with an adult. The Godly insight that many homeschooled teens have is amazing. It seems that they develop such wisdom and stability of character in the homeschool environment. I am excited to see what will come next in the lives of the many Plus kids. I am sure whatever paths their lives take they will always benefit from the strong foundation they have received.
